Warship drops anchor off Malibu coast amid Navy Days event
A U.S. Navy warship, the USS Lake Champlain, was anchored off the coast of Malibu as part of this weekend's Malibu Navy Days event.

MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- A U.S. Navy warship, the USS Lake Champlain, remained anchored off the coast of Malibu on Saturday as part of the weekend's Malibu Navy Days event.

The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, assigned to the Navy's Third Fleet, arrived Friday with more than 200 sailors aboard and immediately attracted curious onlookers onshore.

The sailors are set to participate in several community-service projects before the ship departs on Monday.
