Man's body found near train tracks in Compton

COMPTON, Calif. -- An investigation is underway after a body was found in Compton late Tuesday night.

Authorities told City News Service that the deceased was a male, but his age or city of residence was not immediately available. The man's name was being withheld pending family notification.

Lt. Mark Lucio with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Compton station told CNS that the body was found near the Union Pacific tracks, close to the intersection of North Alameda Street and Rosecrans Avenue, around 11:54 p.m.

Sheriff's officials did not provide any additional details. The cause of death was not immediately determined.
