Father suspected of fatally shooting son in Carson

CARSON, Calif. (KABC) -- Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives were investigating a father suspected of fatally shooting his son after an argument in Carson.

Around 6 p.m. Saturday, authorities received reports of a shooting in the 17400 block of Prondall Court. Detectives learned that the victim, identified as 18-year-old Jiovanni Lyiscott, was in his bedroom when he and his father began arguing.

During the argument, authorities said the father pulled out a gun and the pair struggled over the firearm. One round was fired and the victim was hit.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's 53-year-old father, Anderson Lyiscott, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder.

The investigation was ongoing.
