HIGHLAND PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two trees collapsed on two homes in Los Angeles early Sunday. It was not immediately known what caused the trees to fall.
Alec Ledd returned from a night out to find his Highland Park home covered.
"I went inside it seems alright. The porch is damaged. The fence is damaged, lucked out," Ledd said.
Just three miles away in Montecito Heights, John Alvarez is dealing with a similar situation.
"We nicknamed it Eileen, because it was always leaning," Alvarez said.
The downed tree put a hole in Alvarez's roof, damaged two cars and knocked down power lines.
"We heard like a really loud thud, my wife heard it first, then we came out and the tree was down," he said.
No one was hurt in either incident. Both trees fell during a high wind advisory in the Los Angeles area, but firefighters do not believe the wind knocked the trees over. Ledd and Alvarez agree.
"It seems like it's a city tree, and of course, as city trees go, maintenance doesn't happen that often," Ledd said.
The trees are on city property. Alvarez told Eyewitness News he's been calling authorities for the past nine years about the danger.
"We told them many times about it. They came out, they assessed it, and they said it was good, well I guess not," Alvarez said.
"We've been here for about a year so it hasn't been looked at in a while, and we actually trimmed it ourselves privately," Ledd said.
