CERRITOS, Calif. (KABC) -- A crash involving a big rig carrying human waste caused major traffic headaches on the 91 Freeway in Cerritos early Saturday.

A Honda Crosstour slammed into the back of the big rig on the eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway near the 605 Freeway at 12:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman in the vehicle was seriously injured and had to be rescued from the wreck. She was trapped for an hour, Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Michael Pittman said.

The crash remains under investigation. The area was shut down as investigators cleared the scene.
