LOCH NESS, Sco. (KABC) -- Scottish tour guide John Alasdair Macdonald photographed a meteor shooting across the sky on the shores of Loch Ness Sunday night.

The meteor, which lit up the sky over the North Sea, caused some confusion. The Coast Guard was flooded with calls from people who mistook it for a distress flare.

Macdonald posted the photo to The Hebridean Explorer, his tour company's website.
