Fresno man accused of shooting kitten in head with BB gun

Lovell Jefferson, 47, of Fresno. (Fresno Police Department)

A Fresno man has been arrested and booked into jail on animal cruelty charges after he shot a kitten in the head with a BB gun Sunday afternoon, police said.

Investigators believe 47-year-old Lovell Jefferson's only motive for the crime is that he doesn't like cats.

Neighbors flagged down officers in the area and helped them find the suspect.

Police later learned Jefferson is on felony probation and after searching his home, they found two BB guns and a handgun.

Fresno officials said the kitten's wounds did not appear to be severe and was taken by its owner for medical treatment.
