Search for armed suspect prompts evacuations in Pico Rivera neighborhood

PICO RIVERA, Calif. -- Some homes were forced to evacuate during a search for an armed suspect in a Pico Rivera neighborhood early Saturday morning.



Los Angeles County sheriff's officials in Pico Rivera received a call about a fight at around 4:15 a.m. near Myrtle and Edna streets.



Authorities established a command post at Rio Hondo Park as the search ensued. The suspect was described only as a male in dark clothing.



SWAT officials arrested an armed suspected gang member at around 9 a.m. The home evacuations have since been lifted.
