Arrest made in Venice attack; more suspects sought

VENICE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was arrested in connection to a brutal beating of a woman in Venice, but police are still searching for more suspects.

The graphic attack, which took place Thursday night, was caught by an eyewitness on cellphone video.

In the video, a woman is repeatedly hit and kicked as she lies crying and screaming on the ground.

Screams can be heard from several people outside a local restaurant and bar pleading with the suspects to stop. One of the suspects can be seen hitting the victim with a skateboard.

Investigators say Charles Rayner is one of the men who beat the victim.

Two other people were also hurt.

Police arrested the 18-year-old on Saturday and set his bail at $30,000. His next court date is scheduled for April 23.
