VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- Three people were injured and a few homes were evacuated after a car crashed into a Ventura home, shearing a gas meter early Thursday morning.
Shortly before 1 a.m., authorities responded to reports of a car crash in the 3000 block of Porter Lane. A mid-sized sedan had careened through the outside wall of a single-story home, causing natural gas to leak from a sheared meter.
There were several residents inside of the home when the crash happened and they all got out before emergency personnel arrived. Three people in the car sustained minor injuries, were treated at the scene and then taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Residents in nearby homes were also evacuated and moved 100 feet away from the gas line until the gas company arrived to repair the leak.
It was unclear what led to the crash.
No other injuries were reported, and no further information was released.
