GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- Glendale police are searching for a woman responsible for a hit-and-run accident that injured an elderly woman.

Louisine Ghazarian, 80, was walking westbound on Broadway and beginning to cross Columbus Avenue when she was struck by a black, four-door sedan at about 1 p.m. Thursday. The car, driven by a woman in her 20s, fled the scene.

Ghazarian was taken to a hospital. She suffered non-life threatening injuries, including a laceration on her right knee and a contusion to her right elbow.

"This is just shocking that someone wouldn't pull over to the side of the curb and offer assistance and first aid to someone in this particular situation," said Tahnee Lightfoot with the Glendale Police Department.

The grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of three from Armenia said she thought she was dead.

Anyone with information is asked to call Glendale Police Department at (818) 548-4911.
