EXPOSITION PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Residents and University of Southern California students are angry about the possible corrosive chemicals used for oil drilling next to student housing in Exposition Park.
Protesters marched Thursday, saying that the chemicals used to maintain and clean the equipment may be damaging the environment.
"We would just like more information. We would like an environmental impact report to be done," USC student Corissa Pacillas said. "We're really just asking that be documented, so we're aware of the potential dangers or not. We just don't know."
The site, owned by Freeport-McMoRan, a Phoenix-based oil and gas company, has proper permits for operations. Company officials said the work conducted at the site is performed on water supply wells all over the world and throughout Los Angeles.
