Man crushed to death at San Juan Capistrano landfill

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (KABC) -- A man in his 30s was crushed to death while trying to remove items from his truck into a San Juan Capistrano landfill Friday afternoon.

Authorities said the incident happened around 3 p.m. in the 32000 block of La Pata Avenue. Orange County Fire Authority officials said they used the Jaws of Life in an attempt to free the man, but could not.

Officials said it appeared the man was crushed by the trailer attached to his truck.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
