Man believed to be street racing dies in North Hollywood crash

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A 33-year-old man died after crashing into a pole in the 13000 block of Sherman Way in North Hollywood Monday night.

According to authorities, the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. after two cars were allegedly drag racing down Sherman Way near Varna Avenue.

Valley Traffic Division officials say two cars were driving at the same speed next to each other on Sherman Way. One of the drivers lost control of his vehicle, went off the road and collided into a lamp post and store sign. The man was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver involved is being questioned and is under investigation, police said.
