HAMPTON FALLS, NH -- A man tending to his cattle ended up dead when he was gored by a Scottish Highland bull, ABC affiliate WMUR-TV reports.
It happened on a farm in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. Christopher Merrill's wife, Elizabeth, says she knew something was wrong when he didn't return one night from working in the pastures.
Police found the 51-year-old's body the next day. They say he was fatally gored by one of the bulls.
"He died on the land that he loved, and I think it was meant to be," Elizabeth said. "I feel blessed that I had him in my life."
Merrill leaves behind three children, ages 21, 18 and 16. His wife says she now plans to get rid of all the cattle on the farm.
