Man dies after being found with multiple stab wounds on street in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A man died after being stabbed multiple times early Monday morning in Long Beach, according to authorities.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded at 2:40 a.m. to a request to assist Long Beach Fire Department firefighters after a report of a "man down" at Pacific Coast Highway and Pacific Avenues, said police Lt. Erik Herzog.

The officers arrived at the scene to find a man in the street suffering from several stab wounds to his torso, the lieutenant said. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The stabbing was possibly the result of a dispute, according to Herzog.

No description of the assailant was immediately available.

Pacific Coast Highway was expected to remain closed between Cedar and Pine avenues until 6 a.m., police said. Pacific Avenue was also closed at the location.
