Metro opens first-of-its-kind bicycle hub at El Monte Bus Station

EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- The Metro system's first-of-its-kind bicycle hub opened Monday at the busy El Monte Bus Station.

The 1,100-square-foot facility will add about 700 secure bicycle-parking spaces. It will also offer a variety of other services, including same-day repairs, accessory sales and bike-related clinics.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas tried out a new two-wheeled ride during the grand opening.

The Metro El Monte Bike Hub is the first of five planned at high-demand transit stations countywide.
