NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are looking for two suspects involved in a deadly robbery at a North Hollywood liquor store over the weekend.
Store clerk Mohammed Kalam, described by customers as a kind and generous man, was shot and killed in the robbery.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the killing that happened Saturday around 11:50 p.m. Witnesses say a man and a woman entered the store and appeared to be demanding something. Then a gunshot was heard.
After police arrived, the 61-year-old clerk was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kalam was a father of three from Bangladesh and the store is accepting donations for his family. The store owner says the suspects did not get away with any money.
"He (was a) very hard worker," said store owner Alex Kapner. "From day one. I trust him with my store."
The suspects, who appeared to be in their 20s, fled south on Bellaire Avenue in a gray, possibly four-door vehicle. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
