Parolee arrested after escaping Rialto police

RIALTO, Calif (KABC) -- A man wanted in connection with the attempted shooting of two of his former girlfriends has been arrested a day after a violent confrontation with Rialto police.

Officers arrested Darnell White III at a relative's apartment in Banning.

Investigators say White was wounded in an officer-involved shooting on Wednesday and was bleeding when they found him on Thursday. He was taken into custody without further incident and is now hospitalized for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

White allegedly pointed an assault rifle at police, which led officers to open fire. White fled on foot into a nearby residence and disappeared.

When White is released from the hospital, he will be booked at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
