MONTEBELLO, Calif. (KABC) -- Police need the public's help finding two suspects following a brazen kidnapping attempt in Montebello.

Authorities say a man was waiting for the female victim inside the laundry room of an apartment building in the 100 block of N. 10th Street at about 9 a.m. Monday.

The man tried to pull the woman back into the laundry room, but she was able to quickly turn and run away.

Police say the woman's husband was nearby and saw the suspect running down his driveway wearing a gray hooded sweater, blue jeans and a baseball hat.

The husband chased after the suspect and caught him in the street.

While the husband and the suspect were fighting, a second suspect ran over and punched the woman's husband, and then both suspects fled in an older model white 1995 or 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup truck.

Montebello police say the suspects left materials behind, like rope, consistent with a planned kidnapping.

The second suspect was described as 6 feet 2 inches tall with a large muscular build. He was wearing a mask, gloves, a dark-colored gray/black shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Montebello Police Department at (323) 887-1254.
