STEVENSON RANCH, Calif. (KABC) -- A man has been arrested in connection to an alleged road rage incident in which a woman was shot in the eye in Stevenson Ranch.

Cory Flenory, 28, was arrested Monday and is being held on $100,000 bail.

"He was taken into custody about 8 a.m. While he was taken into custody, unfortunately, this individual chose to kick out the window of our sheriff's department radio car and, unfortunately, deputies had to use pepper spray to take him into custody," said Josh Dubin with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Flenory is accused of shooting a woman in the eye with a BB gun outside of a Walmart near West Pico Canyon and The Old roads just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Megan and her boyfriend, Blake Hipp, were leaving the store when they say a suspect in an orange Kia Soul suddenly tried to ram their car.

They swerved out of the way, only to encounter the armed driver moments later. That's when he allegedly shot Megan in the right eye.

"I heard a big pop right away. Instantly, I thought it was a gunshot. She actually thought a broken bottle hit her in the face," said Hipp.

Authorities were investigating the incident as an apparent act of road rage.

"It appears they did not know each other. What started as...a verbal type altercation ultimately led to a retaliation road rage type situation," said Dubin.

Megan, 22, has had impaired vision in her left eye since she was a child. Doctors at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center are doubtful her vision in her right eye will remain.

What prompted the brutal attack remains unknown. Flenory is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Santa Clarita Station at (661) 255-1121.
