Donald Trump has said that the women who've accused him of sexual misconduct in recent days are looking for "fame."
During the last presidential debate on Wednesday night, moderator Chris Wallace asked Hillary Clinton and Trump to discuss their "fitness to be president of the United States." Wallace then mentioned the women who have come forward since the last debate to accuse Trump of either groping or kissing them without their consent.
"Why would they all make up these stories?" Wallace asked, to which Trump responded, "Those stories have been largely debunked."
"I don't know those people," Trump said, adding that he believes Clinton's "sleazy" campaign "started [it]."
"She got these people to step forward" for their "10 minutes of fame," Trump said. "It was lies, and it was fiction."
Trump added he hasn't apologized to any of the accusers or even his wife, Melania Trump, because he "didn't do anything."
When Clinton accused Trump of denying the allegations because simply because the women "were not attractive enough," Trump insisted, "I did not say that."
"Donald thinks belittling women makes him bigger," Clinton said. "He goes after their dignity, their self-worth, and I don't think there is a woman anywhere who doesn't know what that feels like. So, we now know what Donald thinks and what he says and how he acts toward women. That's who Donald is."
Trump responded with a familiar rhetoric he has used throughout his campaign: "Nobody has more respect for women than I do. Nobody."
