Uber apologizes for $16K bill error
Uber apologized after a New York woman received a $16,000 bill from the ride-share company for a 25 minute trip.

NEW YORK (KABC) -- Uber apologized after a New York woman received a $16,000 bill from the ride-share company for a 25 minute ride.

Jamie Hessel took an Uber from Brooklyn to midtown Manhattan in March. She said the driver got lost and took her all over the area. She then complained to Uber and was told she would be refunded $15.

But three weeks later, she was emailed a $16,000 bill. Hessel said it was not until her story went viral after posting it on Reddit that Uber finally responded.

But a spokesperson for the popular ride-share company said Hessel was never charged for the error, which was fixed the day it was discovered. She was also provided the full $15 refund for her trip.
