Woman's body found in West Hollywood; investigation underway
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in West Hollywood.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman's body was found in a dumpster in West Hollywood on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Detectives were called to parking lot of Jerry's deli near Cedars Sinai Medical center in the 8700 block of Beverly Boulevard at about noon.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the body was covered with a blanket. An unknown man walked into the sheriff's department and reported that there may be a woman's body in a dumpster around the area.

"We are working, first of all, to find out who this person is, and secondly, how she died. We have persons who have told us, more or less, their situation. We have people who either are homeless or some sort of transient conditions that use this place to sleep here at night," LASD Sgt. Marcelo Quintero said.

Officials were waiting on the coroner for a cause of death before ruling the case a homicide or not.

Anyone with information about the incident was urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
