NORTHRIDGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Firefighters discovered a body after extinguishing a rubbish fire at a Northridge middle school on Monday morning.

Authorities say the body was found in the 19300 block of Lassen Street at about 7 a.m. on the north side of Alfred Bernhard Nobel Middle School.

The body was so badly burned that investigators were not able to determine if the body was a man or woman.

Classes at the school were not affected by the investigation, an LAPD spokesperson said. The building that was closest to the fire was closed.

No further information was immediately available.
