14-year-old girl, father wanted after baby found dead on side of road in Monterey County
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities in Monterey County are searching for a 14-year-old they suspect murdered her newborn baby girl.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is also searching for the teen's father, 38-year-old Sergio Galvez Perez, who is accused of impregnating his teenage daughter and concealing her from law enforcement.
He's wanted on multiple charges, including incest, lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, child concealment and more.
According to the sheriff's office, first responders were called to the 100 block of Struve Road on Aug. 1 after receiving a report that a baby was found along the side of the roadway.
At the scene, fire personnel confirmed that the newborn child, who investigators are referring to as "Baby Angelita," was dead.
An investigation into the newborn's death was launched, and detectives determined that a juvenile female gave birth to Baby Angelita on the side of the road and placed her on the ground before leaving the area. A forensic examination determined that the newborn had signs of traumatic injury, the sheriff's office said.

Detectives used Flock license plate-reading cameras to identify and track a vehicle of interst associated with the murder investigation. The sheriff's office says within 53 hours, investigators used the Flock information to help identify the individuals associated with the vehicle of interest.
Detectives arrested 36-year-old Ofelia Garcia Ortega for suspicion of child endangerment as a result of the investigation. The sheriff's office said she was booked into jail, posted bail and was released from custody.
Now, detectives are searching for the 14-year-old mother of the baby on suspicion of murder, in addition to the girl's father, Galvez Perez. Officials say anyone who sees Galvez Perez should not approach him and should call 911 instead.
