BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One person was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Boyle Heights Tuesday evening, according to the LAPD.
The shooting was reported around 5:50 p.m. in the area of Cesar Chavez Avenue and Breed Street.
Los Angeles Police Department officials said a gun was found near the male suspect's body, but it was not immediately clear if the suspect fired at officers.
The incident began when Gang Enforcement Detail officers got into a foot pursuit with a gunman in the area of Chicago Street and Cesar Chavez, resulting in an officer-involved shooting, according to LAPD Detective Meghan Aguilar.
The suspect, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
