Oil and tar washed ashore two miles of beach in Oxnard on Wednesday, prompting concerns that it was connected to the Santa Barbara County oil spill.

OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Oil and tar washed ashore two miles of beach in Oxnard on Wednesday, prompting concerns that it was connected to the Santa Barbara County oil spill.

The black substance could be spotted from Mandalay Beach to Hollywood Beach.

Environmental experts, however, said there was nothing to fear. The oil and tar seepage is a natural occurrence and the beach was safe.
