Man found shot to death in vehicle in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway in Oxnard after a man was found shot to death inside a vehicle Wednesday morning.

Authorities responded to a call of shots fired in the 5200 block of Perkins Road at about 5:30 a.m. and found the shooting victim.

The man, who has not been identified, was declared dead at the scene.

Perkins Road was closed for the investigation between Pleasant Valley Road and Clara Street and was not expected to reopen until around 2:30 p.m.

Police say this was the first homicide of the year for Oxnard.
