PARAMOUNT, Calif. (KABC) -- A mattress factory in Paramount was gutted when a fire ripped through the structure overnight.

The blaze broke out at around 12:30 a.m. The building was fully engulfed when crews arrived on scene in the 7300 block of Madison Street.

Fire crews had to use water and foam to get a handle on the massive flames. Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Brian Jordan said this particular fire had a lot more heat coming off the building because the mattresses provided fuel for the flames.

The blaze melted steel beams inside the building, causing the entire roof to collapse. That's when firefighters went into a defense stance and battled the flames from the outside.

Approximately 80 firefighters knocked down the blaze.

Crews had to shut off power to the block in order to safely fight the fire. It was unclear when power would be restored.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
