Local leaders are calling for change as a group of detained immigrants are allegedly still on a hunger strike at the Adelanto ICE processing center.
The family of a 39-year-old Orange County man who died earlier this month while in the custody of ICE is planning on taking legal action.
Ismael Ayala-Uribe spent five weeks at the Adelanto Detention Center before his health rapidly declined. The 39-year-old died alone in a hospital, miles away from his family.
Two members of Congress were denied access to an ICE Processing Center in Adelanto, in what they said was a violation of federal law.
One detainee called her husband from the downtown Los Angeles detention center and reportedly told him she feels harassed, is sleeping on the floor, and is huddling with other detainees to stay warm.
The Congress members said they spoke to some ICE detainees who said they did not have a change of clothes for 10 days.
