Car-theft suspect arrested at Sherman Oaks Galleria after chase
A car-theft suspect led officers on a chase down freeways and on foot before he was caught at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police arrested a car-theft suspect after a chase over freeways and surface streets in the San Fernando Valley that ended with a foot pursuit into the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

The suspect was initially wanted on grand theft auto charges, according to the Devonshire Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.

He led officers on a chase that went over the 405 and 101 freeways, as well as Sepulveda and Ventura boulevards, until he jumped out of the sedan and ran into the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

Officers chased him on foot and quickly brought him out of the mall in handcuffs.

A female passenger remained in the vehicle after the chase and was also taken into custody.

During the chase, the suspect's vehicle was seen heading the wrong way on several streets and sideswiping at least three vehicles.

According to the LAPD, the driver faces charges of grand theft auto, felony evasion, three counts of hit-and-run and several counts of reckless driving.
