1 dead after speeding car crashes into parked truck in Granada Hills

GRANADA HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Speeding may be the reason behind a crash that left one person dead in Granada Hills, police said.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. Monday on Lindley Avenue and Chatsworth Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police say a BMW convertible was likely speeding when the car slammed into a parked box truck, causing the BMW to roll over. That moment was captured on surveillance video.

The passenger in the BMW died at the scene, while the driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The LAPD says it's not uncommon for cars to speed recklessly through wide open streets across the San Fernando Valley.
