2 juveniles injured in Riverside crash involving e-bikes; investigation underway

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway in Riverside after two juveniles were struck and injured in crash involving electric bikes.

The incident happened around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday near Rosemary Kennedy Elementary School on Mitchell and Arlington avenues, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Video from the scene shows significant damage to the windshield of a car. What appeared to be two e-bikes were also seen strewn across the street and under the car as police investigated the crash.

Details about what led up to the crash, or the condition and ages of the victims were not available. Police said the driver involved stayed at the scene.

This comes just weeks after students within the Riverside Unified School District returned to school, as well as a growing trend in e-bike injuries across Southern California.

In Riverside County, emergency room visits for 10 to 14-year-olds with e-bike injuries more than doubled in 2025. At least 416 incidents were reported in 2026.

Data also show that 10 to 24-year-olds are more likely to be involved in e-bike incidents.
