Tony Pennay, New Horizons' chief program and innovation officer, said society often thinks about the challenges faced by people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
"But, at New Horizons, we think about what they can do," Pennay said. "And so, really, that's us trying to find the sweet spot of helping career or activities or community integration that they want to have."
The organization has been around since 1954, and offers 15 group homes, and career and employment resources to the neurodiverse community and their families.
During the March 14 event, participants can get an event t-shirt with registration, plus enjoy free food, a resource fair, arts, crafts, raffles and more.
Pennay said there will also be "Star Wars" cosplayers, photo booths and a live DJ.
"It's really about building community," Pennay said. "We have a lot of fun."
You can register online here or on site the day of the walk.
Early check-in begins at 8 a.m., with an opening ceremony slated for 8:45 a.m. Parking Is available on site.
New Horizons is located at 8726 Haskell Ave., in North Hills.
