Arrest made after deadly shooting at North Hollywood apartment

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One person has been arrested after a deadly shooting overnight at an apartment complex in North Hollywood.

The shooting happened just after midnight on Laurel Canyon Boulevard, just south of Saticoy Street.

Los Angeles police say a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene in front of an apartment complex.

LAPD officers responding to a call of shots fired in the area heard another gunshot when they arrived at the scene and quickly took cover.

Investigators initially said someone fired at them. No officers were hit, and police did not return fire. Detectives later clarified that it now appears none of the shots were actually directed at officers.

At least three people were initially taken into custody and questioned, and two were released. Police said one person was booked on murder charges.

The relationship between the suspect and the victim who was killed is unknown. It's also unclear what exactly led up to the gunfire.
