BURLESON, Tx. (KABC) -- A 7-year-old boy in Texas is being hailed as a hero for saving his 1-year-old brother's life after the toddler was found unresponsive in a swimming pool.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Patrick pulled his little brother, Liam, out of the pool and quickly alerted his mom and neighbors to the situation.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and were able to stabilize Liam before transporting him to a local hospital. The boy is expected to make a full recovery.

"In moments of crisis, even adults can freeze under pressure. Patrick did the opposite," read a statement issued by Lt. Keven George with the sheriff's office. "He remained focused, acted with urgency, and demonstrated a level of courage, awareness, and determination far beyond his years. His actions played a critical role in the chain of events that helped save his brother's life."

Deputies have nominated Patrick for a Sheriff's Commendation Award. The nomination will be presented to the Sheriff's Office Awards Committee and voted on at their next meeting. If approved, Patrick will receive a Sheriff's Commendation Award and pin in recognition of his courageous actions.

"Our entire Sheriff's Office family is incredibly proud of Patrick," George said. "His selflessness, courage, and love for his little brother serve as a powerful reminder that heroes come in all ages and sizes."
