AutoZone ransacked by thieves after South LA street takeover

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CNS) -- A street takeover ended with the looting of an AutoZone auto parts store in South Los Angeles Monday, leaving the store in shambles.

Los Angeles Police Department officers from the department's Newton Division responded around 1:30 a.m. Monday to the store at 4335 S. Main St., at Vernon Avenue, where video showed a large amount of broken glass and scattered merchandise in the store's parking lot.

Video from the scene showed the officers arriving and clearing the store of possible looters. Witnesses said dozens of people were at the street takeover prior to the looting.

Convenience store looted during chaotic street takeover in Long Beach

A large crowd looted a convenience store in Long Beach after a chaotic street takeover that was caught on video.

No injuries were reported.

An estimate of the the total value of the stolen merchandise was not available.
