Body found in Santa Ana river, recovery efforts on hold due to storm

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A body was found in the Santa Ana river Tuesday morning, but recovery efforts were put on hold due to the weather.

The body was reported at around 11:30 a.m. near Ward Street and Yorktown Avenue in Fountain Valley, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

It was found amidst heavy current. The cause of death was not immediately available.

Video from AIR7 showed the OC Sheriff's Department and the coroner on scene. The coroner will determine the cause of death, according to the sheriff's public information officer.
