Cole's French Dip in downtown LA pushes back closing date

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles is staying open a little longer.

Cole's French Dip in downtown will stay open until mid-September after the landlord gave the owner a 45-day extension.

The iconic restaurant, which has been in business for 117 years, was initially set to permanently close on Sunday.

When Cole's owner Cedd Moses announced in early July that the restaurant was closing, he said there were several reasons for the decision, including the rising cost of labor, crime, the actors and writers strikes and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cole's has been serving up French dips since 1908.
