STUDIO CITY, Calif. (KABC) -- Firefighters raced to rescue a driver trapped in a car that tumbled down a hillside Wednesday morning after it veered off Mulholland Drive in Studio City.
The crash was reported at 7:20 a.m. in the 8500 block of Mulholland Drive, just east of the Autry Overlook, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The vehicle plunged between as many as 150 feet down the embankment, leaving a 30-year-old woman trapped inside, the LAFD said. No passengers were in the vehicle.
Firefighters responded on the ground and via helicopter, and video from AIR7 showed them working to extract her from the car.
Shortly after 8 a.m., the injured driver was pulled out and placed on a stretcher, which was then hoisted to the rescue helicopter overhead. She was airlifted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in unknown condition while breathing on her own.
The cause of the single-vehicle crash was under investigation.
