LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- After 17 years of touring internationally, Jazz in Pink will have a full-circle moment when it plays Long Beach this weekend.
The all-female jazz ensemble from Los Angeles will perform Saturday at Roscoe's Jazz Lounge.
The show, which carries a dress code of all-white attire, starts at 8 p.m.
Dr. Gail Jhonson told ABC7 from stage to stage, she noticed very few women performing alongside her back in 2008.
"I said, 'There's got to be other women that are playing,' you know?" Johnson recalled.
After searching for her sisters in music by land, sea and air, Jazz in Pink was born.
Since their first show, dozens of women have played with Jazz in Pink, from the Hollywood Bowl to Cameroon, Africa.
Saturday, Jhonson said they'll play jazz and the blues as only these women can.
"We present what we do with passion and love, and you know, a lot of musicality," Jhonson said.
B'Shey Productions, which will produce Saturday's show, said crowds can expect fun, dancing and door prizes.
Tickets are available at the door for $20. For more information, dial (562) 471-1240.
Roscoe's Jazz Lounge is located at 730 E. Broadway, in Long Beach.
