LA28 chair apologizes for past email exchange with Ghislaine Maxwell

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Casey Wasserman, chairman of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is apologizing for his past connection to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell after newly released emails between him and Maxwell became public in the latest release of the Epstein Files.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Wasserman and Maxwell exchanged emails in 2003.

In a statement, Wasserman said it is well documented that he traveled on Epstein's plane in 2002 during a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation.

"I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light," the statement. "I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them."
