LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- If you're heading to Laguna Beach next week, make sure to leave your big shade coverings at home.
Beginning May 26, the city will ban shade coverings larger than standard beach umbrellas - including tents, canopies and EZ-Ups - on city beaches except in designated areas at Main and Aliso beaches, officials said in a post on X.
City officials believe that these coverings can pose a safety issue, as they can block the line of sight to the ocean.
Violations may result in fines up to $500. To learn more about this new change, visit the city of Laguna Beach website.
