LeBron James teases 'The Second Decision' announcement

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is making a big announcement Tuesday.

In a post on his social media pages, James teased "The Second Decision," with a time set for 9 a.m.

"The decision of all decisions," the post's caption said.

The post is fueling fan speculation about James' future and the possibility he may announce that this is his final NBA season.

Despite the speculation, James downplayed retirement notions during the NBA's media days last week.

"It's pretty cool to know how many miles I've got and still be able to play at a high level," James said. "For me, age is kind of just a number, but it is reality, too. You look at the history of the game, there's not been many guys at my age, especially going into Year 23, that have been able to play at a level like that. I just try not to take it for granted and just try to give the game as much as I can, inspire whoever I can."

After the post went up, ticket prices surged for the Lakers' final home game of the 2025-26 regular season, according to ESPN.

James, 40, is the NBA's all-time scoring leader and is entering his 23rd season in the league.

ESPN contributed to this report.
