
LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A knife-wielding suspect was arrested after allegedly stabbing a police officer multiple times in Long Beach.
The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. Friday on West Broadway, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers responded to an unspecified trouble call in the area and when they arrived, they encountered the suspect.
"A use of force occurred, during which time, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed an LBPD officer multiple times," the department said in a press release.

Four uniformed Department of Homeland Security air marshals who were in the area witnessed the incident and rushed to the officer's aid, according to the police department. The officer was rushed to the hospital and has since been released.
The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Arturo Fernando, of Torrance, was arrested at the scene. He was booked at Long Beach City Jail for attempted murder and is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
