LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- You don't have to wait until Christmas to reap the benefits of being on the nice list. Here's how a good deed could earn you a free sweet treat.
All you have to do is be a good person and if a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department witnesses your good deeds he or she might just give you a coupon to get a free Slurpee at 7-Eleven.
It's a sweet reward for doing the right thing. The LASD is teaming up with 7-Eleven to launch "Operation Chill," a program designed to recognize young people for positive behavior in their communities.
L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna wants kids to know that law enforcement is on their side, and to protect them and reward them with a cool, tasty Slurpee if they stay off the naughty list.
"For our deputies it's creating positive interactions with the youth in our community. So anytime one of our deputies sees the fact that one of these children are acting in a positive manner, more importantly being good citizens, helping a neighbor, doing whatever they can to help each other, our deputies are going to be handing out one of these coupons to our youth out in Los Angeles County," Luna said.
