3 dead after news helicopter crashes near site of deadly Chatsworth bus collision

CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- At least three people are dead after a news helicopter crashed near the scene of a deadly bus collision in Chatsworth on Tuesday evening.

One person on the ground was killed in the helicopter crash in the 9100 block of Mason Avenue in Chatsworth, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The LAFD later said a total of three people died in the crash and one person was hospitalized in unknown condition.

Authorities said it was unknown how many people were aboard the helicopter. It was also unclear whether anyone from the helicopter was transported to a hospital.

The crash occurred near the scene of a large bus crash that left at least two people dead.

Firefighters said the helicopter was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
