Man found dead near Stanton home tied to illegal gambling operation, sheriff's department says

STAN­TON, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspicious death is being connected to an illegal gambling operation run out of a home in Stanton, investigators said.

Authorities said a man's body was found early Sunday morning in an alley about a block from the home on Flower and Cerritos avenues. The Orange County Sheriff's Department said the victim was in his 30s.

Details about how the death may be connected to the alleged gambling operation were not immediately released.

Meantime, several people were detained.

The incident remains under investigation.
