Pepe Aguilar talks family, humanity ahead of Hollywood Bowl concert

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Mexican music legend Pepe Aguilar performed at the Hollywood Bowl for the first time two decades ago. This weekend, he is back with two of his children for a celebration of music, humanity, and family.

"This is a landmark for live entertainment," Pepe told Eyewitness News as he gears up for two nights of "Los Aguilar."

Pepe will be joined by two of his children, Ángela and Leonardo, in a first-of-its-kind intergenerational performance paired with mariachi and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

The son of Mexican music and film icons, Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, Pepe carries on a legacy of artistic passion and talent. In a recent vlog, Pepe shared that his paternal grandmother - a talented singer - may be responsible for the family tradition.

He also recalled that his parents would play their instruments by the river in the Mexican state of Zacatecas.

"I think that being able to have such contrasts in life is what makes life beautiful," said Pepe, reflecting on that memory and lineage ahead of this weekend's performance at the iconic Hollywood venue.

Pepe has reaffirmed his support for immigrant communities, donating the profits of his latest album and new single to immigrants' rights nonprofit CHIRLA. Reflecting on this upcoming performance and celebration of Mexican heritage at this juncture, Aguilar said, "I think it's the universe saying, hey, this is also part of what immigrants represent."

"This is what I'm part of, making music, connecting people with their hearts, with their roots, resisting in a peaceful way, completely. But also in a truthful way, because this is part of reality," added Pepe.

Los Aguilar perform two nights at the Hollywood Bowl -- August 15 and 16.
